| Description: |
| ABB is a leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve performance while lowering environmental impacts. ABB in the UK operates from more than 20 locations nationally and employs around 2,500 people. The ABB Group of companies operates in around 100 countries and employs about 105,000 people.
ABB began operations on January 5th, 1988 following a merger of Asea and Brown Boveri. This is of course a modest achievement compared to our parent companies, each of whom has been in business for more than a century. Still, we are proud of what we have accomplished in this time, completing what was at the time Europe's biggest-ever cross-border merger and then building up a multi cultural global company with strong local roots in more than 100 countries around the world.
