Heavy duty centrifugal pumps specialist Amarinth has won an $850,000 order for eight pumps to be used in the polar conditions off Sakhalin Island, Russia.
 Six Amarinth API 610 VS4 vertical pumps, manufactured in duplex steel, together with two electro-submersible pumps have been fully winterised to withstand the intense cold.
Oliver Brigginshaw, managing director of Amarinth, explains that the pumps will be used in the processing of produced water and other utilities, including waste water.
Four will replace existing Japanese pumps and Amarinth designed bespoke mounting plates so that the new plant would directly interchange with the existing pumps without modifications.
"Working on a project in Russia always poses some financial challenges, but working closely with the banks we were able to find creative financial solutions," comments Brigginshaw.
"The documentation in these international projects requires multi-party approvals across a number of time zones that can cause serious delays," he adds.
"However, we are pleased to report that the investment we have made over the past couple of years in our document management system has once again ensured that working across different time zones and authorities has not introduced any delay in the lead time."
