Plant rental specialist Microlease has been awarded an open-ended contract to supply its newly-acquired LEO asset management service and support software for the European Space Agency's satellite navigation system.

Microlease LEO asset management to support Galileo GPS projectHamilton Hall, the Hampshire-based asset management software firm acquired by Microlease in April, was invited to demonstrate the scope and functionality of its LEO solution to major stakeholders in the Galileo project, including SpaceOpal, T-Systems, and Vitrociset Belgium.

Following completion of systems acceptance tests, it has now been confirmed that LEO will be deployed to create and co-ordinate the planned maintenance programme for ground control assets at the centre in Oberpfaffenhofen, Bavaria and other sites worldwide.

"The solution is ideal for this application and has been configured to maintain the build standard or configuration of the assets throughout the maintenance programme," comments Elizabeth Hall of Hamilton Hall Consultants.

"LEO will also hold and manage all spares needed to support the operational maintenance of the assets," she adds.

When it is complete, the ESA Galileo programme will comprise a global network of 30 satellites providing precise timing and location information.
