Caterpillar is now clear to acquire German power plant builder MWM from 3i, following agreement from the European Commission.

European Commission approves Caterpillar acquisition of MWM"MWM welcomes this approval, as its integration into the Caterpillar family is a very positive step for the company's future development, its employees, clients, distributors and business partners," says a MWM Holding spokesperson.

"The product portfolios of both companies complement one another very well, without any substantial overlaps. We strongly believe that the next step in the company's development will lead to more customer options for sustainable power generation solutions," he continues.

"Following the clearance by the European Commission – as the last major regulatory requirement – the transaction is expected to be closed before the end of this year."
