Parker Hannifin Manufacturing has won top honours at the Best Factory Awards 2011 presneted at the Sheraton Park Lane Hotel in Piccadilly, London.

Parker Hannifin scoops Best Factory Award 2011Its Domnick Hunter Process Filtration division in Tyne and Wear achieved the ultimate accolade for the firm's impressive workforce development and consistent achievement in exceeding corporate goals.

The plant supplies filtration equipment for sectors as diverse as pharmaceutical, healthcare, food and beverage, and microelectronics, and has seen sales soar and productivity increase by 11%, while maintaining exceptional customer service.

According to David Coatsworth, operations manager at the Domnick Hunter site, the plant has prospered ever since its acquisition by Parker Hannifin. Success, he says, has been attributed to a 'win strategy' that focuses employees on three key goals: customer service, financial performance and profitable growth.

"We're delighted to have won this prestigious national award. It clearly underlines our commitment to working practices that provide our customers with the services and products they need to improve their operations cost-effectively," comments Coatsworth.

"This can only be achieved by operating to a disciplined and consistent framework, with clear objectives that empower our employees at all levels to achieve the targets we set," he adds.

Since 1992, more than 1,600 manufacturing plants have taken part in the Best Factory Awards, which are run by Cranfield School of Management in partnership with Findlay Media's magazine, Works Management (a sister title to Plant Engineer.

The Awards are part of a programme for those who manage, operate and maintain engineering and electronic plants and factories, manage staff, training, health and safety and inspire innovation or secure links in the supply chain for manufacturing enterprises.
