No beating around the bush from Brammer and SKF

Maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) specialist Brammer has joined forces with bearings and lubrication giant SKF to deliver a turnkey solution for automotive firm Expert Tooling.

No beating around the bush from Brammer and SKFThe Tyne & Wear operation initially contacted SKF for assistance with a lubrication system for new tooling to insert bushes into position on a car suspension subframe.

Phil Gazeley of Expert Tooling says that SKF and Brammer worked with his team to design the system – with Brammer supplying SKF pumps, nozzles and valves.

These have since enabled Expert Tooling to build a range of systems incorporating a closed box into which each bush is inserted for automatic lubrication before loading into the subframe.

"This application had been previously undertaken manually and while the vehicle assembly plant wished to automate it, it was not possible to use robots on this occasion," explains Gazeley.

"Consequently, there was a need to design and implement a system that delivered consistent lubrication before automatically loading the bushes into the subframe at the correct pressure."
