Managers at a new ABB plant dedicated to low voltage breaker repair are promising to extend the working life of this kind of equipment.

ABB workshop extends life for low voltage circuit breakersABB's new workshop in Stone, Staffordshire provides a wide range of overhaul, test and refurbishment facilities for ABB equipment and that from other manufacturers.

Mark Clegg, sales manager for low voltage breakers service in the UK, says: "We have around 1,000 customers, many of them from data centres, hospitals and other critical sites that need to minimise disruption to their operations. The new facility will allow even more circuit breaker users to benefit from our service expertise."

Life cycle services on offer include planned preventive maintenance, carried out at site. The workshop provides a report on the condition of equipment requiring repair and makes recommendations on parts replacement and restoration.

"Refurbishing or repair of circuit breakers is an economical alternative to purchasing new parts," insists Clegg. "As well as ensuring the breaker maintains its original performance, our services extend the life of the circuit breaker."

And he adds that retrofits can also be performed, to improve electrical and mechanical performance, while the workshop also holds a stock of spares for both current and phased out products.
