Nord Drivesystems has extended its SK 500E series of compact inverters, with the addition of a top-of-the-range model SK 540E, featuring basic PLC functionality.
Programming is via industry standard IEC 61131-3 languages, using the firm's PC-based NordCon tool, and the PLC controld up to eight digital inputs, three digital outputs, two relays, two analogue inputs and one analogue output.
Additional I/O modules may be added for increased machine control.
Nord expects its new inverter to be used for applications such as pump control, enabling equipment to react automatically to flow rate fluctuations.
Other functions include PID control, a servo mode that ensures full torque at standstill, and absolute and relative positioning with the Posicon module.
