High efficiency motors down to 0.55kW
January 2011 Email to a friend   Comment on this article
IE2-compliant three-phase motors with outputs down to 0.55kW are now available from NORD Drivesystems, ahead of the mandatory European energy-saving standard that comes into force in June.

High efficiency motors down to 055kWNORD says it uses more active material and higher quality sheet metal, with smaller losses, as well as higher copper filling factors to achieve its high efficiency design – which also means greater power reserve.

Consequently, motors with a smaller power rating can be used in many applications, creating additional efficiency benefits.

NORD explains that performance improvements stem from a reduced partial load range, in which efficiency is necessarily lower.
