Software designed to save plant engineers time, by allowing them to manage HART-based instrumentation from any manufacturer, has been released by Honeywell.
Its Field Device Configurator (FDC) runs on Honeywell's MCToolkit hand-held tool, and can configure and assess the health of all HART 5, 6 and 7 process instruments.
Plant engineers will like the fact that this toolkit also supports both the FDC and Honeywell's earlier software for configuring units running DE protocol – meaning one tool for multiple jobs.
They will also like the simplified instrument management – with the tool allowing any field instrument descriptors and revisions to be selected as plants change, irrespective of the device manufacturer.
And they will like the configurable screen menus that enable customisation to individual engineers' most frequent tasks.
