Food manufacturer Bakkavör says it is driving improvements in plant output and efficiency at two of its Lincolnshire operations, following assistance from change management consultancy Reliable Manufacturing.
 Bakkavör HR manager Siobhan Richards explains that the company approached Reliable Manufacturing to implement its Rapid Transformation Programme to engage its people in problem solving following the downturn.
And she says the results were fast coming. "Nine months in to the programme, the payback is already greater than the investment cost, with even more impressive results in the pipeline."
"As well as the impressive financial benefits we're seeing, the workshops have transformed key working relationships," adds operations manager Nigel McGinn. "It is a fun and memorable way to learn, which is why it has been so effective."
He explains that improvement teams are still addressing a range of opportunities – from changes in the supply of raw materials all the way through to improvements in the invoicing system.
Following the rapid turnaround in culture and performance, Richards says that other Bakkavör plants are now exploring the programme for their operations.
