With just two months remaining for firms to register for the Carbon Reduction Commitment Energy Efficiency Scheme (CRC), an industry poll reveals that data management is the biggest problem for plant managers.

Data management latest worry for CRC registrationThe poll, conducted by environmental data specialist Landmark Environment among its customers, finds that 43% of respondents complaining about data management, followed by timeframes (39%), information (35%) and cost (23.5%).

The findings indicate that plant managers are seeking effective ways to gather, compile and analyse data. Similarly, when asked what were the key concerns regarding CRC, 47% of respondents stated that understanding the legislation and guidance was a concern, while 33% cited the audit trail or evidence pack.

In contrast, the survey also suggests that many organisations are alert to the opportunities presented by CRC. Gaining a greater understanding of energy efficiency, potential cost savings and improved data capture and management were all named as benefits.

David Mole, managing director of Landmark Environment, comments: "Clearly, many organisations are still looking for an effective way to manage data in this new area, and there are tools available that can make the task easier.

"Our 'Carbon Counter' service provides a clear step-by-step process to enable organisations to map energy consumption across each individual component of their operation. It means that those responsible for managing CRC can ensure that they have met the requirements and recorded them appropriately."
