ABB has completed its acquisition of US-based instrumentation manufacturer K-Tek, which is now part of the Measurement Products business unit of ABB's Process Automation division.
K-Tek boasts more than 350,000 installations of level detection instrumentation since being founded in 1975, and the acquisition means additional strength for ABB in the oil and gas, and water markets.
The operation employs some 250 people, with facilities in China, Netherlands, India and South Africa, as well as the US.
Says Veli-Matti Reinikkala, head of ABB's Process Automation division: "We see a lot of potential for synergy between ABB's extensive geographic reach and exposure to other industries, and K-Tek's depth in level detection technology."
