Piezo plant upgrade
01/11/2009 Email to a friend   Comment on this article
Condition monitoring specialist Sensonics has helped upgrade turbine supervisory and vibration monitoring at the Uskmouth coal fired power station in Newport, South Wales.

Sensonics supplied replacement Aegis VME (vibration) and Sentry turbine monitoring systems for the plant's three 131MW generators.

Plant engineers selected piezoelectric velocity transducers instead of accelerometers, because of their superior noise performance in heavy industrial environments and signal processing that eliminates resonances due to steam noise.
