Maintenance in place progressive cavity pump to take water industry by storm

A pump that can be maintained-in-place – taking a daylong maintenance operation down to just 30-minutes – is new from Mono NOV. And there's even a video to prove it.

Maintenance in place progressive cavity pump to take water industry by stormDubbed Ezstrip, it's being billed as the biggest leap forward in progressing cavity pump design for 30 years.

In fact, it's an extension of Mono's Compact C range, but designed for quick and easy disassembly, de-ragging and maintenance in-situ – all in response to plant engineers' observations.

Simon Lambert, Mono's general manager, comments that, to date, options have been limited, with maintenance and de-ragging time consuming and in some cases unsafe.

"Once we addressed the ragging, we realised the potential of this product to minimise the time and cost involved in every aspect of maintenance. On average, EZstrip can reduce the maintenance time to replace a rotor, stator, coupling rod and drive train by 95%," he says.

The new pump offers dry run protection and all existing operational parameters are unaffected. Capacity is up to 165m3/h and 12bar pressure, and the range is available in cast iron or stainless steel. WRAS compliant elastomers are incorporated into and a pre-assembled drive train, with two-year warranty, is also available.

Ezstrip can be installed into new plants or retrofitted into existing Compact C installations. Lambert says that no electrical disconnection is required and suction and discharge pipes remain untouched.
