Polymers repair damaged heat exchangers

Belzona Polymerics' repair composites are countering in-service deterioration on process plant, caused by erosion damage and galvanic corrosion.

Polymers repair damaged heat exchangersIn one case, a power station heat exchanger that had been removed for refurbishment, was found to have suffered loss of metal thickness on the tube sheet surface.

Belzona rebuilt and protected the eroded tube sheet using materials based on a ceramic steel reinforced polymer.

To prevent future deterioration, a low temperature curing, erosion corrosion resistant coating system was applied. Further, the Belzona materials isolated the dissimilar metals, eliminating further galvanic corrosion.
